Edwin Thumboo
Edwin Thumboo is Professor of English and Chairman/Director of the centre for the Arts at National University of Singapore. His collections of poems include Rib of Earth (1956), Ulysses by the Merlion (1979) and A Third Map (1993). He has also edited three anthologies, Seven Poets (1973), The Second Tongue (1979) and Anthology of ASEAN Literatures (1985). Edwin Thumboo received the NBDCS Award for poetry in English (1978, 1980, 1994), the Southeast Asia Write Award (1979), the Cultural Medallion (1980), the ASEAN Cultural and Communication Award in Literature (1987) and was awarded the Public Service Star (Bar) in 1991.
