Goh Poh Seng
Goh Poh Seng, a medical practitioner, was born in Malaya in 1936. He received his medical degree from University College, Dublin, and practiced medicine in Singapore for over two decades.

One of the most prolific writers of modern Singapore, Goh began as a pioneer of Singapore drama in English. His first novel, If We Dream Too Long, won the National Book Development Council of Singapore’s Fiction Book Award in 1976, and has been translated into other languages like Russian and Japanese. It has been used as a text by the Department of English at the University of Malaysia, and is being used as a text in the University of Singapore and the University of the Philippines. Goh also writes poetry, and his works have been published in numerous magazines and anthologies.

In 1983 Goh was awarded the Singapore Cultural Medallion for his literary contributions.
