  Visual Art
Some of the established artists include Ong Kim Seng (water color), Ng Eng Teng (sculpture), Liu Kang (oil), Thomas Yeo (mixed media), Pan Shou (calligraphy). Several Singapore artists have attained international recognition such as the late Chen Wen Hsi, Pan Shou and Liu Kang.

The visual arts community is very active in organising cultural exchanges and groups exhibitions to showcase their works overseas. The biggest overseas exhibition was organised by NAC to seven cities in China in 1995. Major visual arts events held in Singapore include the annual Tresors, the biennial Singapore Art and the annual UOB Painting of the Year Competition which has helped to identify young talents.

The Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts and the La Salle-SIA College of the Arts are the two main arts institutions in Singapore. A milestone in the artistic community was also laid with the completion of the Telok Kurau Studios which provided room for artists to create and exhibit their works. It currently houses 26 artists and 2 arts societies.
